Raise the projection screen's bottom edge to six feet, then sit in the last row in 3D and check that the whole slide clears the heads in front.
28 sPlan the LED wall before a single tile ships
Size the wall from real modules, choose the pitch from the room, hang it high enough to clear every head, and sit in the back row in 3D to see what your audience will see.
Plan an LED wallSize and resolution from real modules
Set the module size and count, flat or curved, and Floors.live works out the wall size, the module count, the composition resolution and the aspect ratio. Choose the pixel pitch and every number follows.
- Width and height in modules, flat or curved slices
- Pixel pitch 1.5 to 4.8 mm
- Composition and active pixels, aspect ratio
- Plan footprint from the modules, to scale
- Ground stack on a riser, or flown
- Sizes in feet and inches or metres, as your plan reads
Pixel pitch and viewing distance
Next to the pitch, the properties panel shows the minimum and comfortable viewing distance in your plan's units, and a faint arc on the plan marks the minimum distance in front of the selected wall. The rule of thumb is about 1 m per millimetre of pitch, comfortable from 2 to 3 m per millimetre.
- Minimum viewing distance from the pitch
- Comfortable viewing range from the pitch
- Minimum distance drawn on the plan in front of the wall
- Front row distance measured on the plan
- Pick the pitch from the room, not the catalogue
- Rule of thumb shown in the panel
Trim height and the view from every seat you check
Fly the wall and set its bottom clearance or its top edge; the plan warns when the bottom edge is low over an audience. Then click any chair or table seat and the 3D camera sits there at seated eye height, facing the wall.
- Bottom clearance and top edge (trim), linked
- Low-clearance warning in your plan's units
- View from any seat at seated or standing eye height
- Save the view so the client's link opens on it
- Walk the room in first person
- Check the stage and the wall together in 3D
Content, side screens and the client
Download a content template at the wall's exact pixel size for the content team, mirror the main wall onto side screens, and send the client a link that opens on the seat view you saved.
- Content template download at the exact resolution
- Fit: cover, contain or stretch
- Side screens that mirror the main wall
- Projection screens and TVs, hung or on stands
- 4K snapshot of the wall for the proposal
- Share and walkthrough links with no client account
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the pixel pitch for my room?⌄
Measure from the wall to the front row. As a rule of thumb, the minimum viewing distance in metres is about the pitch in millimetres, and comfortable viewing starts at two to three times that. Floors.live shows both numbers next to the pitch, in your plan's units.
Can I check whether the back row sees the screen over the stage?⌄
Yes. Click View from a seat in 3D, then click a back-row chair: the camera sits there at seated eye height, facing the wall. Raise the riser or the trim and check again. Save the view and your client's link opens on it.
Can the content team get the exact pixel size of the wall?⌄
Yes. Download the content template from the LED wall's properties. It is an image at the wall's composition resolution, so artwork fits the wall to the pixel.
Does Floors.live check every seat's view automatically?⌄
Not yet. You check the view from any seat you choose, seated or standing, in a couple of clicks. An automatic check of every seat is on our list.
